Sensitive Skin 101: How to Choose the Right Cleanser Without the Irritation

If your skin tingles, reddens, or flakes after cleansing — it’s not just “in your head.” Sensitive skin requires extra care, especially when choosing something as fundamental as your daily cleanser. From our years of experience, here are what to avoid and what to adopt:
What to Avoid
1. Sulfates (like SLS/SLES)
These harsh foaming agents strip your natural oils and weaken the skin barrier.
✔ We recommend: Coco Glucoside, a coconut-derived cleanser that’s gentle, sulfate-free, and 100% biodegradable.
2. Synthetic Fragrance (Parfum)
Artificial fragrances are among the top skin allergens and can cause irritation or dermatitis — especially in babies or sensitive adults.
✔ We recommend: Essential oil blends (used sparingly) or go completely fragrance-free in baby and sensitive skin formulas.
3. Alcohol (Denatured or SD Alcohol)
Used to create a “quick-dry” feeling, but often leaves skin tight and dry — a red flag for sensitive types.
✔ We recommend: Glycerin, a natural humectant that draws moisture to the skin, keeping it soft and hydrated without irritation.
